TAEDTECH - tutorial / badges projects: Opening Letter - sent to all Chapter & SIG representatives (May 2014)

Greetings

After a couple of years of hearing about the concept, it's finally happened. Open digital badges are now available from TESOL Arabia .. and the first of these have already been awarded.

What's in "Open digital badges" for me?

Would you like

1. to be recognised for your efforts in organising an event?

2. to acknowledge the work of your Chapter-SIG volunteers?

3. to recognise the efforts of your presenters?

Each of these can be realised using open digital badges.

Not familiar with the concept of Open Digital Badges?

Quick answer - open digital badges are a way of formally recognising desired achievements, efforts, attitudes, affiliation, skills. They are growing in popularity for use in K-12 education AND also for PD. We're looking to use them (for now) to recognise certain efforts - YOUR organising efforts, YOUR presenters' efforts, YOUR volunteers' efforts. Efforts that make TESOL Arabia happen.

I'm very excited about this, thanks for persevering and pushing this through. It is one of the most innovative and progressive initiatives TA has had recently. (Tamas Lorincz)
